An earlier start than the rest of the week, but I was able to delve right in to the Open University brief from yesterday. I spent all morning brainstorming and thinking through ideas and eventually created 7 strong concepts with several images to build upon my description. The brief is rather open, which I am used to but something that is new to me is a limitation of the technology the final product will be used on. It involves creating something for the Microsoft Surface that is fully interactive and harnesses the multitouch aspect of the table. Luckily there happened to be one in the studio to try how it works. To be completely honest, It wasn’t quite what I was expecting. There was several good points to table, but overall I felt I was lacking compared to the quality of the Apple touchscreen technology. As previously mentioned, I decided upon 7 ideas that could be combined to create one overall multimedia application. I will have to wait for tomorrow to find out what Chris and Simon think. After lunch, I got a fantastic opportunity to talk to
Andy, who was the studio’s motion graphics maestro. We chatted for a good 45 minutes, which was full of great advice and tips. Motion graphics and coding is an area I am most passionate about so to speak to someone doing exactly what i want to do was inspiring. I am very grateful Alan gave me some time out of his day. As the day was winding up, I was allowed to go home early. But I was promised a very busy day to end my week! I look forward to it!!
